Vagabond Tales- A Case of a Mistaken Campsite
August 13, 2026 Buffalo Pound Provincial Park Saskatchewan, Canada. 🇨🇦 Trails End T-9
No Banana Bread for Me-
This morning we ate breakfast in the camper but stopped for coffee at the nearby Starbucks and gasoline in Medicine Hat. Harry ordered his Starbucks Banana Bread. I had already learned that the Canadian Starbucks have a different recipe than we have in the U.S. Canadian Banana Loaf has no nuts. Canada has very strict allergen -labeling requirements. Although, Starbucks could use their banana nut recipe and label it clearly, I think they have simply chosen not to have that issue at all and simple go with plain banana bread. not my favorite!
Today was a long drive day. We felt like the pioneers traveling across the prairie in schooners, except we were traveling east. We had an overcast day but no rain. Not even a rolling hill.
In Canada…if you see a gas station…you better stop. They are few and far between!
We were closing in on the campground when we saw this beautiful old Anglican Church. We had to stop. No homes for miles!
Signed into Buffalo Pound Campsite. It was around 3:30pm and we were exhausted. Our site was difficult to find, and once we found it…difficult to level. Harry picks these sites from on-line maps, so it is always a surprise when we arrive. We found what we thought was #9 Trail’s End, I fixed dinner, fed Finn and Harry went out to wander around. He discovered we were in #9 on Shady Lane. After a call to the park warden we ascertained that we needed to move. So now we have landed in the correct campsite! We will be here tomorrow, as well!Finn is happy we are in the correct space!
***Remember our Vagabond contest started yesterday and it will close Friday evening at 8:00 pm eastern standard time. There is still time to enter.
You all ate at Coyote Grill (outside). We’ve never had coyote; hope it was tasty (ha). That was Dennis! We meant to comment sooner but have had a busy week getting our basement dried out after a leak from the HVAC system which is in the basement. We missed you so much at Bible study on Tuesday! We loved Finn’s new bandana from Banff! He is so beautiful anyway but the red accent is perfect!! Sometime we want to see pics of him as a puppy. We loved the old Anglican Church. We wondered if it’s still being used. Enjoy your rest this week-end and prayers for a blessed travel next week!! Love, Linda and Dennis
Hey , so sorry to hear about your leak ! That is a mess to clean! Hope nothing got ruined! We have you in the drawing! Thank you so much for following! The pictures of Finn are not too different from what he is now! Just bigger! I keep him in a puppy clip because I think it’s adorable. 😍. Love to you both!😍
Good grief. Not a kind adventure today!!! Big hugs. Mary Ellen
Yes… I must say, when you are tired …mistakes can happen! The first place was a crazy leveling act and this spot is perfect! Love to you! Karen❤️
