Vagabond Tales- Buffaloed

August 14, 2026 Buffalo Pound Provincial Campground Site T9. Trails End. Saskatchewan , Canada. 🇨🇦

Had a great night’s sleep and we were thankful we did not have to tear down and hook-up once again! This really is the better campsite!

Our plans for today…Rest, take a hike to look for buffalo, rest! ✔️

We love boardwalks so we thought we would check this one out.
Repeat after me…Overgrown! We couldn’t see anything except cattails and rushes. No birds, no insects, no water! As we walked along, what should we see but a huge, FRESH, pile of bear scat. This boardwalk just went out and back and we couldn’t see what was ahead. We decided to turn back…we had no idea if that bear was just sitting and waiting for us as the end on the walkway!
This trail was very close to the boardwalk we had just left in a hurry but we decided to hike on in search of the Buffalo Pound. We walked quite a ways without seeing any Buffalo, until, we climbed an overlook. There are supposed to be 35 head on the compound. We certainly did not see that many but maybe 10. Not as close when were at the Rocky Mountain National Park in the U.S.
There they were! We were not buffaloed, after all!
We did see some interesting water fowl. We cannot figure out who this guy is on the bottom right and left…same guy, just different poses. Anyone have an idea?
Have any of you seen this road sign before? Can’t figure out if they want us to stop or just stop and play checkers.😊
Lest you think everything always goes smoothly while camping…this was Harry tonight after realizing all of the dish water had funneled through a loose collar and filled all of our cooking pans! He’s pretty sure he has fixed it for good!

We’ll be on the road tomorrow!
