Vagabond Tales- Mark Another Lord’s Day

August 9, 2026 Bow Valley Provincial Park Site C 16

One thing good that came from the Covid era was that many churches began videoing Sunday Services and playing them live. I can see it also could have its drawbacks , in that, He wants us all to be in community with fellow Christians and you usually do not get much of that at home! But for us…when we go on extended trips like this, it allows us to worship with our church family and not get too far behind.

Pastor Matt Murphy, Grace Fellowship Church, Johnson City, TN
We decided to stay put today and explore the campground! After worship!
Finn decided. “Camp Hair Don’t Care.” Generally, I hate to take him on hikes that will get his fur all knotted up and in a mess because I am the one who has to tame it. But when you get to the point of no return…you might as well, go for it! By the way…red flowers in the middle picture are Scarlett Paintbrush! We hadn’t seen any of these on this trip yet.
This hike took us around the lake. Such a nice breeze so we didn’t get too hot! We always have to be careful, as one of us always has to wear his fur coat!
I have no reason to put this picture in this post, other than it is my favorite shot of the day!
I know…I have taken too many of these wild sunflowers but… how many bees 🐝 do you see in this picture of these gorgeous flowers?😊
All good things must come to an end. Even rough and tumble little fur guys must get brushed to become seed/weed free before he is allowed into the camper. Notice in the bottom picture who was teasing Finn to play with him, while he was getting beautified! Yep, a chipmunk. And below this someone was even bolder!
These animals have obviously been fed at the campsites before. Way too friendly and chattering at us.

Tomorrow morning we meet our guide, Liam and ten other travelers we haven’t met yet. We will meet at 7:30am in the Safeway Grocery parking lot. Boarding a bus, we’ll take a scenic tour of Banff Provincial Park for the day! Finn will hold down the camper while we are touring. P.S. The parking lot is 30 minutes away. 👀

  1. Gorgeous scenery! Finn certainly sits so nicely for his brushing. I imagine he loves getting the twigs, burrs, etc. out of his coat.

    Enjoy your excursion tomorrow.

    Love you ❤️
