Vagabond Tales- Saint Louis River and Lake Superior
August 19, 2026 Indian Point Campground Site 44
Duluth, Minnesota.
A hiking, laundry, small shopping kind of rest day!
Saw this on our hike… and so we did both! A map of our campground and the river walk on the Western Waterfront Trail we took today. The river has been designated a National Water Trail and this area has been planted with wild rice in an effort to restore wild rice in the Saint Louis Estuary. Bottom right picture…the plants behind the lily pads are some of the wild rice they have started.
The picture above of the berries are called American cranberry bush viburnum. These are not ripe yet.
Wild rose left top,, below- I’m thinking it is a cow parsley and the blue is Creeping BellFlower, and it is an invasive species….not native to Minnesota. You can see Lake Superior on the horizon.
Another look at Superior and its boardwalk.
A pretty fancy Laundromat .Chip and Tweetie did the trick! We have clean clothes now!

Grandsons loved the big statues of Paul Bunyan and Babe! We missed you at Bible study on Tuesday. had a new student, Ellie Clay, and Theresa Pickle came with Teresa Pierce. Also, Chip fell and broke his ankle in several places and is in JCMC with no weight on it for 3 months. They had to postpone a trip to Niagara Falls that they were supposed to leave for yesterday. I’m sure you have heard about the 2 Milligan bicycle riders who were killed in Hampton yesterday. Prayers for all their families!! Several of the team are still in JCMC. Linda and Dennis
Thanks for the update! Have been praying for the Milligan families and students! What a tragedy!😢. I hate that for Chip and Ann! We had talked about the fact we were going to be in that area about the same time!
Visiting my sister and family this afternoon!⭕️❌K.
We didn’t go. Jane has tendonitis in her heel and needs to stay off of it. Debbie couldn’t go. She has some news to share, but I’ll let her share it with you. I will send out a text next week and ask for dates for September and try to get something set up.
