Vagabond Tales- Look What the Wind Blew In

July 31, 2026. Indian Creek Recreation Area, South Dakota. Site 79.

When the Camping World flag measuring 40’ x 80’ is flying straight out from the pole…you know it is WINDY ! We drove through wind and rain most of the morning but then the sun came out!

We got up early today since we had a couple hours longer to drive. Not too bad when you can keep the truck hooked up to the camper! Finn was raring to go!

He always is ready to go!
We truly did drive the country roads today! Golden waves of wheat, sunflowers and beans …I would say these crops were around every corner but we only turned three times today!. You can do that easily in the Midwest.
A really lovely campsite! Not crowded and full of wildflowers, nature and a beautiful lake!

You can see it is dry here, as well. They, obviously, didn’t get any of the rain we drove through today!
The butterflies were still coming to the garden even though most of the flowers had seen better days!
Salmon for dinner tonight plus our last peaches made it into another peach crisp. We couldn’t resist.

We are staying here tomorrow as a rest day for our driver, Harry! We will see what kind of trouble we can get into! We may look for a computer genius as my iPad is not working as streamlined, as I would like! It has made posting doubly long the past two blog posts.

  3. Our grandsons got to see the beautiful silos today! They were very impressed with the height of them. Love the beautiful campsite with the lovely flowers and butterflies. It’s been cloudy and somewhat rainy today here. Tell Harry to get some good rest from driving tomorrow which I’m sure is harder in the wind. Your salmon dinner looks wonderful!! You have inspired us to eat salmon for dinner soon. Safe travels and a pat of love for Finn!! Dennis and Linda

    1. So good to hear from you! Today’s drive took us from the farm land to the Badlands and into some smoke. I imagine we will continue to have that since the Canadian Forest fires are so bad! I hate it for them! Hoping I can still get some good photos!❤️

  4. My laptop has been doing wacky things! It’s several years old so I can’t decide if it’s hinting to be replaced or just operator error! 🤪

    1. I hate to say…I purchased a new iPad before the trip…for those very reasons before we left…I’m still having problems only more and different! I’m chalking mine up to me and not the instrument!😄
