Downstream Campground Site 24

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers…We haven’t met one of their parks we haven’t loved and this one is no different!

Power House on the Missouri River Dam. Generating electricity for a large portion of this area. It is part of the campground and Fort Peck Lake.

We really should use a GPS for campers only. Ours just has different ideas for where we should go. Today, we drove 30 miles on a scenic gravel road. Only 2 vehicles passed us. But if we hadn’t been on this road, Harry and Finn wouldn’t have spotted the antelope. Photo credit goes to Harry!

There were three antelope racing around. Harry thought it looked like a family. By the time we got the camera out this guy was the only one left! Don’t you love the color of the grass?
This is “the road less graveled”!
More shots from the road less traveled! The hay bails were beautiful lined up so orderly along this stretch of road. A hearth without a home. A bit of sagebrush in front of a grain field. No fencing on this range! These cows are free to roam.

Camp site 24! All three of us are bushed. Maybe we will get to bed early! Dinner, hike and then to bed!😄

Dinner was a quick to whip up skillet Taco. It will feed us two other meal on this trip. It is very low carb and Harry can use Tortilla chips to scoop up the meat and veggies and I can just pass on the chips…if I want to.

We have one of our longest drives tomorrow. Having dinner ready to heat up will be a God-send!

  1. Dennis and I were amazed at the brown grass since ours here is so green and growing like crazy! Supposed to get more rain this evening. Loved the antelope and laughed with you at the gravel road. When we were in southern Wyoming many years ago you could see 10 miles ahead and that was before GPS. And we were the only car on the road for what seemed ages. The skillet taco looks delicious. The boys and Mary were totally unfamiliar with rammed earth construction and found it fascinating. They really liked the neat Teddy R. museum. Stay safe and try to avoid the smoke. Continued prayers for a fun trip!!! Russells

    1. We made it to Alberta! No trouble getting Finn in! 😁. Thank you for your sweet note! Looks as if you are having a very wet spring and summer this year. I would be interested in hearing whether our water table was back up. In the spring they were saying, we were still down. A bit hazy here but not bad! ❤️to you and yours! K , H and 🐾🇨🇦
