Vagabond Tales- Pollen Count 4, Vagabonds 0

We didn’t need to hear the weatherman’s pollen warning to know it was a bad day for it! All four of us had strong reactions to it throughout the day! There was a pollen build up on everything you looked at or touched. That is when staying indoors might have been easier on us but we carried on with the days plans. First up…the Beaver Pond Trail…no sign of actual beavers found. But it was pretty!

Golden Ragwort…sometimes called Cough weed. Maybe these were contributing to some of our symptoms. They are gorgeous, anyway!

A bit of Mexican Train Dominos and close by our
sites several other critters. as shown below.
Broad-headed Skink. This is the same guy in the leaves where we spotted him and on the tree where Ruth Ann chased him when we were trying to get him to smile. The red head is more pronounced during breeding season.
The deer in the park have no sense of fear around people. This is taken right in our loop circle.
Ran down to the sleepy little town of Haysi for a pizza for dinner. Still no eating in but they had this nice little pavilion overlooking the river. So VERY windy…we had to hold onto everything. Thankfully, our hair is attached…if not it would have blown down to the river! We drove back up to Southern Gap and looked for the elk this evening on our own.
We had our own private viewing! In the fall the antlers will be something for the male elk to mew or bark about. Those sounds are how they communicate.
They kept their eye on us the whole time!

  2. Pollen or not – looks like sunny weather. Hope Dave and RuthAnn got their camper fixed and moving well. Or did it get towed.
