Vagabond Tales-Didn’t Cross the Rio Grande

Harry wanted to see the Rio Grand so we drove down a twisty road. We passed A Homeland Security area where we could have gone across the River in a row boat. Hmmm. Perhaps a quick look-see would be enough.

Our second full day of our time in Big Bend, started with an inspection of the camper for wind damage. The night before was crazy with 25 mile an hour wind for a solid 5 hours! Even the larger campers were pulling in their slides. No damage was found so we went off exploring the park. We headed out to view the Rio Grande and a bit of rough road driving. We thought we wanted to hike up to a cool waterhole but to get there we needed to drive on a very rocky road. After 40 minutes of driving we turned around because we were not even halfway there and it was pretty rough on the truck and those in it.

The only vehicles we passed on this off road were two dirt bikes.
This was termed an easy hike. 1.7 miles but some
mud leaping and stairs made it moderate for us.
Climbed some interesting stairs to this wonderful canyon view!
Our ride back to the camper. Saw the lupine along the way and visited Ken and Sheryl Shields who were friends of our friends, Dave and Ruth Ann. They have gone full time RVing and are camp hosts in Big Bend until the end of May.

Sorry for the premature sending. Don’t know what I pushed but it took me to publishing. Today we drove and we are camping in New Mexico. We are at Brantley Lake Campground. We like the place but boy are we in the desert! Off to Guadalupe Mountain National Park tomorrow..
