Vagabond Tales- Spring In Branson

March 21, 2025 Copper Creek Resort and Campground. Site 4

Time for a hike!
My man and his dog!
I think with these flowers clustered together it looks like a kaleidoscope. You can see by the picture above this one, that the Redbuds were in bloom. Starting at the very bottom of this picture you can see Service Berry, to the right of that, one lone Dandelion, above that Periwinkle, to the left of the Periwinkle, you can see the Redbud, and finally the Daffodil. We are missing our spring plantings at home this year. 🫤
Dr. Lyle Owen retired as a professor at the University of Tulsa and moved his family to this property full- time. He was the property’s third owner and he and his family had a very self sustaining life-style. He built the entire perimeter stone wall from 1937- 1945. All of the plants we saw today were started many years ago by Mr. Owen. He also built 340 steps to the lake. I did not make that descent. He lived here until he was 92 and then the land was drafted to the city of Branson.
Finn admired the wall in ways, we did not!
Lake Taneycomo looks more like a river to me but if you squint, you can see it in this picture.
How long has it been since you visited an 5 and 10 cent store? This place was packed with merchandise and people! Wow! Lots of stocking stuffers could be found here!

    1. Yes, it took him all of those years, however anything worth doing is worth doing well. It still stands tall today. Some places look like some places aren’t as high but it is primarily still there. A true testament to his hard labor. Hope you do well at your meet!❤️
