Vagabond Tales- Tailwinds Blew Us into Eastern Colorado

March 13, 2025 End of the Line RV

Park Site 24

We left Santa Fe bright and early in hopes of avoiding the high winds and snow they were predicting. Harry thought we might just feel tail winds as we went…and so we did! Every highway we were on, had placed action signs with flashing lights warning about the high winds. We were so thankful we made it safely…however, we haven’t had the best welcome!

This says it all!
Just a big dusty, dirt field with hook ups and the fresh scent of multiple cattle stock yards. Not our Favorite! Harry says he can’t wait til his nose gets acclimated…. Can that really happen?

We didn’t get a picture of their sign upon entering the camp ground, so Harry headed out to snap a picture and found this campground has something else not so cool!

Unruly, barking, snarling, dogs off leashes. If you note the picture of the sign, you can see a dog running pell-mell towards Harry. The owner had no control of his dogs but kept yelling to Harry…they’re friendly, no worries, they are friendly! Luckily, Finn was inside the camper with me.

The owner came right up to the door of our camper after the incident to say he was sorry, his girls had scared us. Not to worry…they are friendly. He also said it wouldn’t happen again. We’ll see.

Tomorrow the weatherman here is calling for chance of rain and 35 mile an hour winds! Maybe we won’t visit the new National Park until Saturday.

  1. Oh, my!! Hope all of you, including Finn, stay safe from those dogs! Anyone seeing even 1 of those dogs charging at them would be frightened! How long will you be at this campground? Praying for safety from the winds and the dogs!!

    1. The plan is three nights but after Harry experienced their manic barkiand chasing…he wouldn’t be opposed to leaving early. Mainly depends on the weather. If it doesn’t amount to much that might open up an early leaving!❤️⭕️❌

  2. I guess the campground name says it all. I hope it works out. Will you visit Buena Vista? Paul and Cindy have bought land there and plan to build a house in the next few years. They love Colorado! Enjoy that beautiful state. -Amy

    1. Buena Vista sounds wonderful! We were in the southeastern corner. Only 30 miles from Kansas. Don’t know if Colorado wants to claim Granada. 😊. Are they buying a home or building! Sounds exciting! Love to you!❤️ K.
