Vagabond Tales-The Other Side of Zion
March 4,2025
After a rainy day yesterday, we had a beauty today!
Another windy day…or maybe camp hair don’t care?
Many people come to Zion and never see this side of it. Kolob Canyon surprised and delighted us with its rich orange, earthy colors against the azure blue skies!
Driving in, this scene greeted us! We almost had the place to ourselves! We saw a few cars parked at the three trail heads but very few of those.Kolob Canyon Utah Notice the snow!
Red Hills Desert Gardens
Their gardens are located in St. George, Utah. It is shown as an example of how to grow a water efficient garden. During the construction of the city building next door, they unearthed more dinosaur fossils. Those are now displayed in the gardens. Not nearly as impressive as the ones on Sunday but cool, never the less. The gardens are part of the Red Cliffs Reserve in St. George
We leave Sand Hollow tomorrow for Antelope Canyon in Arizona. Here are some last pictures of things in and around the campground we’d like to remember.
This is what draws people to this campground and recreation area. Last weekend, almost every site was filled with toy haulers, the toys and their owners! The camp boasts a tunnel under the highway so these dune buggies can safely get to the sand dunes to romp. My manicurist shared about her experience driving theirs! Sounded thrilling! Once the buggies and their owners came in, the night was alive with campfires, laughing and dance music. Party Time in Sand Hollow. This is Sand Hollow reservoir . It was taken yesterday when the rain was clearing off. It provides water for the community and a big recreation area!
We loved the desert garden at Los Angeles Arboretum and Botanic Garden years ago. It was my favorite. The red cliffs here remind me of Colorado. Loving your great photos! – Ruth
