Vagabond Tales- On Mission

February 15, 2025

Behind our couch is our Murphy bed. It really saves a lot of room in the camper!
This is it down and all strapped in to make the journey back up so we can maneuver easier! The wood on the end is Harry’s invention so the mattress doesn’t get a permanent crease in it.

Why in the world am I showing this to you? Harry had been noticing as he lifted it up and down the last few times that it was getting jiggly, loosey-goosey! He was afraid it would come down while we were driving sometime soon. So mission #1. Figure out how to fix it!

With the aid of a Rockwood owner help site on line [our brand camper] this is what he did.

1. Cleared the storage cupboard out.

2. Cut the hole big enough to get

his shoulders in.

3. Climbed in…not much different

than an MRI.

4. Found there were 17 holes for

screws but the factory had only

put 7 in. All have been replaced!

We will sleep soundly, knowing we have a safe bed again!

Mission #2.

Harry was feeling a bit wonky and his pulse rate was over 90. A call into his heart doctor assured him it was high but still within the normal range.

Mission #3. We headed out to see the Mission San Jose, San Antonio.

Constructed in 1768…at its peak there were 350 natives residing in 84 two room apartments in the wall. Bottom right picture. It became known as the queen of the missions.

Sample of the 2 room apartments in the wall. Sentries stood look-out by standing on the top of these walls containing living quarters.
It was a mission for 104 years. They still hold mass in here every Saturday.

Mission #4. Give Finn a good playtime! This campground had a dog park in it! Can you see Finn’s smile?

How was your day? Ours was packed!
