Vagabond Tales – Don’t Always Label Their Freezer Food

February 25, 2024. Frank Jackson State Park, Opp Alabama

You may think this is spaghetti…
It may look like spaghetti…but don’t be fooled…it is NOT.

Today was a travel day , as you can see by our new location. Weeks before we begin a new trip, I start doubling up on my cooking. For instance, if I make soup, I make enough to eat that evening at home and freeze one or more to take on the upcoming trip, in our freezer. Normally, each container is labeled with what it is and cooking directions, if needed. This way, on travel days, we defrost as we go and dinner only has to be heated up when we arrive. We have been depleting our freezer food stash, so for tonight we took out what we both thought was spaghetti sauce…but there was no instructional label to really assure us it was a correct assumption. But, hey…it was red and smelled like …frozen spaghetti? But alas, it was simply frozen tomatoes from our 1 tomato plant we had last summer…no meat, other veggies or spices. So we had a pretty high carb dinner tonight. It wasn’t terrible but we wouldn’t say let’s make this again.

Another beautiful park. This one in Alabama.
Another Campsite with a view.
This picture was taken
from our open door.

We will explore tomorrow and work on a better balanced dinner!
