Vagabond Tales- Crusts and Cupids

February 13-14. Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, Santa Rosa , Florida

Tuesday was another blustery day…we did get out for an Old Growth Trail here in the park but it was extremely windy. Here are a few pictures from yesterday’s hike but was certainly not much to write home about so I skipped our blog yesterday. I’m sorry!

Campbell Lake..One one of three ,rare coastal dune lakes in the park. It is beautiful! There are sand-burrs growing around here and Finn picked one up in his foot, that I extracted for him.

2024 Valentine’s Day

Finn got his Valentino Dino this morning. It was a great hit! For my Grandchildren, who love Squishmallos. Finn now is the proud owner of one!

One of the reasons we were not at the beach today was that starting early in the morning I was hearing some loud percussion booms like a true Fourth of July Fireworks display. We went to the camp office to ask what was going on and found out the beaches/waters were closed due to the Air Force /Navy were detonating unexplored World War II ordinances. They evidently submerge them and then fire them.

We hiked this trail late morning and over lunch. This trail combined with our exercise had my Fitness App shooting fireworks off. Great trail but there was no signage we could see and many side trails.
At least, Finn looked at me! Harry is busy trying to figure out if we were on the correct trail.
Look at the length of the pine needles on this young pine! They would be great for basketmaking!
We were loving these blue skies!
I love toadstools! Perfect Valentine hideaway for a pixie.
We were wondering why we were sneezing…Look at this pollen on Harry’s truck!
Good thing we had so many steps today!
Happy Valentine’s Day!

  1. Too bad about the weather and kind of scary about the munitions but, as usual, you both look great and Finn is a hit! M.E.
