Vagabond Tales- “Do You Know the Way to San Jose’?🎶

August 18, 2023 A Travel Day

We have added a commercial plane to our transportation this trip. Flying Delta from Asheville, NC – San Francisco.

I hesitate blogging this 10 day trip, since we are minus a truck, a camper and our doggy, Finn. However, we are still on the mission to complete a visit to every national park in continental US and this trip will add 4 more to our list making us have a total of 51 in the lower United States. So I will post!

For me…noise canceling headphones are an ear saver on flights.
Have you ever been on a five hour plane ride and not have a window in the window seat? Well, we did!
We were warned over and over not to leave anything in our rented car,
due to the smash and grab activities that are going on there these days!
Looking for a parking spot was relatively easy at our hotel in San Jose’. But if you notice the guy in the yellow circle you will see what gave us pause.
There were four of these wild pigs roaming throughout the parking lot. It was a bit intimidating to have these guys snorting around as we were trying to get our luggage out and into our room.

The hotel staff was quite upset by these visitors who had evidently been rooting around there the night before. They called the police but they did not show. When looking up what these swine were called, I found headlines in the San Jose’ paper…Wild Pigs Ransack San Jose’s Lawns and Garbage Cans, Wild Pigs Run Amuck in San Jose…Residents Want Repayment, Pesky Wild Pig Problem Leads the City of San Jose’ to Allow Trappers to Hunt Using Bow and Arrows.

This three hour time difference is murder on timely meals and sleep!

  1. Hi Karen! We are flying to San Jose Sept. 6 so your post was very interesting to me. Wild pigs! Yikes. Molly is starting college at Santa Clara University which is why we’ll be out there to help her get settled. Looking forward to reading about the rest of your trip.

      1. Karen–we’ll have to look for those pigs! Molly chose Santa Clara because of it’s civil/environmental engineering program as well as the wonderful scholarship they offered her. She was deciding between several schools in Colorado and California and Santa Clara won out. I hope she’ll love it, but we will definitely miss her!

  2. Way to start off your trip with a wild adventure. I wouldn’t have been crazy with a NO WINDOW in a window seat. lol
