Vagabond Tales- Everything Was BIG Today

January 29, 2023. Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah, Georgia

Our day started off with a BIG Laze. All three of us slept in, one of us more than the other two…hmmmm…Guilty as charged.

The first hike of the season for us turned out to be The BIG Ferry Trail. It was the perfect beginning trail… Beautiful day, easy 2-3 mile hike, and no elevation!

The Ferry Trail was part of the original road leading to the ferry landing. Passengers were carried across the waters to the city of Savannah.
I have always called these palmetto ferns.
But I believe, this BIG one to be an alpha fern.
Don’t you love the way the sun shines through the leaves?
Temperatures were very comfortable for all of us!
Signs warned us to beware of Alligators in alligator holes. I don’t even think an alligator would want to bury himself in this green algae filled pond.
Maybe not the Biggest tower/ overlook or the Biggest boardwalk but walking along the salt marsh was pretty interesting. The birds were singing merrily as we strolled down the planks. If it weren’t for a couple of young ladies we passed, I might have missed the big snails clinging to the bottom of the reeds.

Pretty cool, right? They are just waiting for the tide to come in!

We certainly had a gorgeous day and
it was topped by some terrifically BIG news!

Our Really Big News

Our oldest grandson, Nicholas, called to share with us the Big news that he had asked his beautiful girlfriend, Erika to marry him and she said Yes! Looks like we will have a December wedding in the family! Funny story…both of their parents were married on the very same day in December…inquiring minds want to know if they will pick the same date.

We are tickled for them and pray God’s richest blessings over them!
