Vagabond Tales-Hike Even When the Chips Are Down

September 20, 2022 Medora, North Dakota, Medora Campground Site 306

This morning we had a few housekeeping things to do. One of the things I had to do was clean Finn’s ears. I was also going to try to use scissors and trim some of the hair out of them. I brought the bottle out and you would think being a boy his size, it would be difficult to find a hiding place. The minute he saw the bottle…he was situated here and was not going to budge.

We hadn’t seen him under here before.
A short but steep hike.
And did we say..the chips were down?

We were closer to the chips or pies than we were to the actual bison! But we did see one! You had to be on the lookout at all times!

That is a Buffalo at the end of the arrow…not a speck of pepper! As evidence shows…you could walk up on one of these fellows!
Harry was intrigued by the L shaped bridge. For todays weather the high was 63°. I layered clothes. One minute I was hot and then the next the wind would pick up and I would be cold.
President Roosevelt came here to mourn the loss of his mother and wife, who died on the very same day. He said he loved these grasslands and silent places! The work on the ranch and long rides through
the grasses brought him solace.
This shot is for Leslie…she will know why!
We ended the hike at the top of this plateau amidst
Roosevelt’s beloved grasslands

    1. Ha! Couldn’t remember if you and the family came here on your camping trip? Some really fun things to do if you come in season. Of course, we were here two weeks late to get in on the shows.
