Vagabond Tales- Drive Day in Washington
September 4, 2022 Port Townsend, Washington. Fort Worden State Park -Site 70
Contest # 2 found within this blog.
Good news…Finn got a new rendition of a String Man for big puppies…same color…less appendages. Today was weigh -in, marking Finn’s six months…52 pounds. I am hoping they exaggerate when they say you can double a Bernadoodle’s weight at six months to get his probable weight at a year . 😬. Ooops! Looks like my secret is out on how I keep my energy up. Just have to recharge regularly!
We arrived and set up camp this afternoon around 2:30 . This gave us plenty to time to explore and get the lay of the land. Fort Worden is a beloved historical, national treasure located on 434 acres of park land
This was where Harry had to check-in to get our campsite and literature. Usually, it is a small building about the size of a medium sized shed…not so here.
We can’t wait to explore this area more tomorrow but here are some of the sights we saw this evening just driving around.
Right before I took this shot, a man and a woman went by on the pier with their arms laden with grocery bags. Stocking up like we do in the camper for their next trip. That actually is a very large sailboat that you can barely see on the horizon. They are remodeling this whole lighthouse compound.Harry saw the sun was setting behind the camper and had discovered a trail. So, we quickly took Finn and ran along the trail hoping for a glimpse of a sunset on the ocean. Instead, we found Chinese Garden’s Lagoon. Chinese immigrants planted gardens in this area in the late 1800’s. The gardens have long since disappeared but the lagoon remains.
Contest #2… We are visiting all of the National Parks in the state of Washington? How many are there?
Your answers are due by phone, text, email, or on this blog by September 6, 2022 at 6 pm Pacific Time.
***As in the past…if you have won one of the contests on this trip you will not be eligible for the rest of the contests this trip.

3 National parks ( & 124 state parks) Just thought I’d throw that in there! I look forward to hearing & about your adventures & seeing your photos every day. If Finn keeps growing like he is you’ll be able to ride him!!🤣 Love you Judy
If you can get up that high! We had a Great Dane that weighed 120 and was almost as tall as I am. And Finn has a lot more hair! Too cute. Beautiful park.

His mom was 40 and dad 70 so we were planning on around 70. There is a big difference between 70 and over 100!😅
I will have to send you a picture of what a young friend of mine did with their St. Bernard!
There are three National Parks in the state of Washington.. When are you all headed back to JC?
