Vagabond Tales- California or Bust

August 23, 2022 Mineral, California – Volcano Camping RV Park Site 19

Whelp…

Guess…a little bit of both! We got to California
but not before having a bit of a bust!

Truth!!! God was looking out for us! Harry is not one to play it safe with gas…he likes to wait until the bell rings on the truck to indicate low fuel but going through these low populated areas, he has made the concession to go in at a little under a 1/4 tank. For some reason, he felt the urge to get gas at us under 1/2 a tank. We rolled in…had to wait for a pump! I laughed and said you need to take our picture while we wait. It was such a cliché of every little town we drove through in Nevada! Casino, Casino!

While Harry was taking this picture he looked at the camper tires and one looked a little low. Once he moved the truck up to the pump…it looked like the picture above.
No problem…Harry will fix it…But no, when the tires were put on the guys at the shop had cinched them down so hard, Harry’s Jack was unable to budge it. We had several other people try to help…to no avail. Call AAA and we find we were only the “standard “ customer and they would only help the truck…😳 Finally, a tire service said they would come but they were backed up…it would be awhile. So three hours later we were on the road.

We are truly thankful for God’s provision! We know from experience…this could have been so much worse!

We drove through miles and miles of what I have pictured below! So very sad! We didn’t get in until dark, so we can’t even tell you what the campsite looks like in the light of day…We will tell you what we think when the sun rises but we are landed, the wheels aren’t rolling but the Dorr’s are rolling into bed! Night all! Thank you, God!
