Vagabond Tales- Long Travel Days Aren’t Our Favorites

August 9, 2022. Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park…Wildwood Missouri

Folks…it was a very long travel day. To get where we want to go, it will take several of these days and hopefully will be worth the time driving in the end. We are bushed tonight. And when it is a drive day…you never know what pictures will take the honor on the blog those days.

A drive by the Gateway Arch. We had visited long before it became a National park. We are counting it as completed.
Meet String-man…well, he really is Finn’s second String-man and a true favorite. Today he was in a chewy mood…got some elastic out of my button bracelet box and poor String-man took a hit, as well. I have sewn him up. We will see just how long he will make it before I must repair him again. Feel free to guess. The repair is below!
Maybe not the best repair job I could have done.
Finn and String-man
Our walk around the campground was cool…in the 70’s and devoid of crowds.
Just so you can have something to pray about for us…This happened on Saturday morning as we were packing. Harry wasn’t hurt but he worked several hours trying to solve this problem. Ended up getting a new bolt and we set off…well, today another sheared off on the other side. Once again he jury rigged something to hold it together. He spent time on the phone tonight trying to find a replacement.

Tomorrow…we will learn all about Dr. Babler and his park named after him. We will stay put for the day.

  1. Loved seeing Ryan and Leslie’s gang in the last post!

Looks like Finn is loving the travels already – as long as he is by your sides – I think that puppy is always content.
