Vagabond Tales- Valentine’s at the Beach

****We have a contest winner!*** Watch the video to see who the winner is!

A beautiful day to walk the beach with my Valentine!

Jim and Janna Williams recommended this park to us years ago when we were just starting out. Why we waited so long to visit, I really don’t know…I think it is one of our favorites of all time. We leave tomorrow and hope to put it on our list for another winter trip, if God grants us the health to do so! The miles of pristine beach devoid of hotels, homes,or shops makes one feel like they have landed on a deserted island.

I’m sure in the summer you would never be this far from
other people but this was truly amazing!
Not only did we walk but we rode all over the park today. Not sure we will have any opportunities like this at the next spot! Notice…no beach clothes today!😀. Frozen once, twice shy.
We lock our bikes up and leave our helmets when we walk the beach. Just a little tip we learned years ago while biking in France if you find yourself leaving your helmets on your bike…make sure you leave the opening down, not with the inside up. On our trip, our group of fellow bikers left their bikes in a garage. Some of us took their helmets in but most of us just hung ours on the bikes. Several, who left their helmets up like a bowl, found them filled with bird droppings the next morning from the pigeons roosting in there for the night! Quite the nasty surprise.

Back at the campground we were decked out for the special day with our new kitchen towel and we had fun with our sticky sliders on the side of our camper! They were pretty funny! ( Gifts from Chris, Michelle, and Kaitlyn.

It was so cute…we had trouble getting it wet!
The only surface slick enough to see how these guys
moved was the outside of our camper!

    1. Joan, Hello! We are in TopSail Hill Preserve State Park, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Not too far from Pensacola. This has been a fantastic campground. Tram rides to the beach on the hour , if you choose. We never took one but they were like regular clockwork! Coffee shop on premises with baked goods to die for. We did eat a few of those. They have cottages for rent , too! Bike rentals, including electric bikes. We didn’t rent those either but it is nice to know they have them. And beach is long and in February…it was relatively empty! Where have you been traveling? K.

    1. Yes. We watched a slide program while we waited for the Ranger today and walked around Tharp loop, yesterday! I think they looked nice for state park cabins. Go on the website for TopSail Hill Preserve State Park. There seemed to be a lot of them. All cream/ white painted. You would have to take your bike! You won’t believe how nice it is to ride around. They also rent them and they have electric bikes, as well!

      1. You may want to check now, Diane. Harry made these reservations last March 5 to arrive on February 5. And there were only 3 sites to choose from. They are on an 11 month reservation window. Things might be different with the cabins, so I would check.❤️
