Vagabond Tales:Deer Spotted on Gopher Tortoise Trail

February 13, 2022

***Vagabond Contest Ends tonight after the Super Bowl, with the drawing taking place tomorrow.***

Another Sunday away from home and joining our home church on- line. A good message about serving others! The sermon series is called Living the DNA.

After church and a nice lunch, here in the camper we headed out to hike the Gopher Tortoise Trail. Unfortunately no gopher tortoises were seen. They are native to the southeastern US. This animal is seen as a keystone species because it digs burrows, providing shelters for 360 other animal species. We did notice along this trail, that they were cutting the weedy understory rather than burning it. You will see that cutting created an issue for me.
Someone other than Gopher Tortoise love this trail and
were not very skiddish with us on the trail with them!
I looked up to see Harry taking my picture…the cut weeds evidently had little stickers and sharp little needles of some sort, that I walked through and my socks were like magnets. Ouch! It was a gift that kept giving for my whole 10.000 steps today until I could get back and change.
View from the bench…Another look at Campbell Lake.
Night all..Going to finish up this Super Bowl!
