Vagabond Tales- Won’t Have Trouble Sleeping Tonight

February 8, 2022

Road our bikes to Campbell Lake today. It is one of the largest coastal dune lakes in the park…96.9 acres or roughly 70 football fields. This type of lake is only found in Five places in the world. The lakes found in the panhandle are especially rare because they periodically open and close off flow to the Gulf of Mexico. TopSail is home to four of them.

Our bike ride this morning ended up being only five miles long.

Some campgrounds have Camp Stores but this is the first one that has a coffee shop with delicious baked goods!
We did a lot of beach walking! Wouldn’t you? This is an absolutely gorgeous beach! My step counter says I did, 13,250 steps today. Harry’s phone said he walked more. Suffice it to say…we got a lot of exercise in today!
We think this is a short billed dowitcher! This one was fun to watch!
A sea gull strutting in the sun!
This wee bit, a sanderling, only had 1 leg. I thought maybe he just had it tucked under him but we watched for a long time and he only hopped to get everywhere.

Goodnight all! I think we will hit the sack a little early tonight! We are looking forward to a sunny day tomorrow!
