Vagabond Tales- Harry Said He Didn’t Need to Read This Sign

January 27, 2022

“Nothing to Birdwatching!“ he says…”Find a bird…Watch it! That is all there is to it!“

This morning I chatted with our neighbor who had the cat on a leash…

She is camping with her father, who is about our age. He and his wife were planning to go camping in a big way , when he retired. They bought a huge, 38 foot fifth-wheel and a truck to pull it. One thing led to another and he had a concrete pad poured and put a building on it to keep it covered…no sooner were they ready for their first trip and his wife was diagnosed with cancer. She was gone in three months. Covid reared it’s ugly head and he didn’t leave the house, like most of us. He finally decided it was, too much for him to do all by himself so…he sold both the truck and the fifth-wheel. Said he still wanted to camp and he bought a motor home..months went by and it was one excuse after the other why he was not off on a trip.

Then comes his daughter, the nurse…burnt out from Covid nursing and feeling guilty about time she was able to spend with her mom. she quit her job and suggested to her Dad that they go together for a winter trip to Florida. They left PA the second week of December and won’t see home until the end of March! She had regrets with the time she was able to spend with her Mom and doesn’t want any when it comes to her Daddy! I guess her story reminds us…not to put off doing fun things with those you love!

Meet Lucifer, the cat. So named because of
the bites and scratches he delivered while being rescued.

We hiked longer than we had planned this morning but it was a delightful walk with beautiful scenery. Our intention was to walk the camping loop but we saw a sign for Juniper lake and Pavilions. We thought…Why not? So off we went.

Juniper Lake
I love the blackwater areas!
I love this picture of Harry! Look above him to the right,
you will notice an interesting railing in the pavilion consisting of a table looking out at the lake! with a built in seat, similar to a narrow picnic table. We think that could be nice overlooking the valley at our house.
Biking the Blackwater State Heritage Trail
We hadn’t been on bikes since last winter…almost a year. Hard to believe! My body believes it, though!
Note to self…DO NOT wear dangly earrings on a bike ride.
They blow in the wind like Snoopy’s scarf, hitting the helmet
strap constantly and drives me batty.
Dinner tonight Air Fried Salmon, quinoa, and salad.
Recipe for the salmon found @ Feel Good Foodie- Air Fry Salmon…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Over 6.2k reviews. We would give it five ⭐️ s as well!

  1. Karen— love traveling along with you and Harry. Glad you’re having better weather than we did. We just returned from two weeks in Tarpon Springs, FL. Our weather was cold and windy, and we both got omicron while we were there! I think Florida’s rates are beginning to decline, but you all be careful when you’re around lots of other people. Loved the story of your camping neighbors and your pictures are always wonderful! Amy

    1. Oh, man! I am so sorry! That is twice for you! So far it has been mostly just the two of us! But we do have a tour planned for Tuesday where we could be exposed…😬We had it at Thanksgiving…Dr. Robins figured it was the Delta strain. I definitely do not want to get it again! It truly wiped me out!
We aren’t going too far south, this trip, so we were not anticipating shorts weather…just warm enough to hike and bike. Thank you for following!❤️

  2. We’re watching the Weather Channel and it looks like a polar vortex is planning to chase you out of Florida this weekend. Any plans to escape to the Caribbean?
