Vagabond Tales- Make It to Blackwater

January 24, 2022

We arrived just in time for set up and then dinner. We had the pork tenderloin for tonight defrosting in the refrigerator…our fridge is evidently highly efficient…still rock solid. Thankfully, we had some frozen soups we could thaw out easily!

It was 52° when we finished setting up camp tonight. We may not need as many blankets as we have the last couple evenings. Other than a check engine light showing up on the dashboard, we had a pretty uneventful drive today. We will be here for ten days. It is obvious some of that time will be spent trying to figure out what is wrong with the truck. That will be first on our agenda. Harry has a list of things to see and do in this area once we solve the truck engine mystery. We shall see!

Last night was chilly again and it got us thinking about how much Onyx liked her cozy beds and it was even better if it was in front of a fire. I’m exaggerating a bit but she almost had a bed in every room on the ground floor. If she followed one of us into a room…she wanted her bed in there, too. Some examples below for proof!

In her latter years, so she wouldn’t have to be on the ground during camping trips! She had a bit of a hammock.
And she didn’t mind sharing!🙂

  1. Losing a doggo is awful. I still have our big Great Dane on my screensaver. Will you get another?? Maybe you can find one down there to make the rest of the trip with you. You could name him/her O2? The difference between oxygen (O) and oxygen (O2 )is that the former is an oxygen atom while the latter consists of two O atoms bound together, …Think of that. Bound together… Like you guys and Onyx were.

    1. I think we will eventually get a new puppy! Don’t know how soon we could do it! Funny that you had a Great Dane…Harry was just saying how loyal and loving they were! But they are about the size of a Shetland pony!🙂

  2. Onyx loved her beds! It was so funny just watching her work with it until she got it the way she wanted it. She was such a precious, loving dog, even though she looked like she would eat you alive!😃 She kept people at a distance.
Hope that you enjoy this campground. Praying that the truck issue is a simple fix.
    Stay safe,
    Our love and prayers
