Vagabond Tales- Cumberland On It’s Way Up Or Down?…Just Have to Wait and See

September 28, 2021. Cumberland , Maryland

Still staying at Rocky Gap in Flintstone, Maryland

A farmers field, right outside the park, planted with Anemones.
I call them windflowers

The infrastructure was there! Beautiful architecture , bricked and tree lined plazas, lovely plantings and water features but…no stores were open at 11:00 on a Tuesday, actually not many viable stores , in the first place and we maybe saw 5 or six people walking around.

Chamber of Commerce and some art painting I enjoyed!

What do you do when you have so many empty storefronts? Why you throw a walking quilt show up and show beautiful quilts in their windows.

Colonel George Washington’s office when he was at Old Fort Cumberland. Harry would have been drawn and quartered for peering in his windows. Note the highway and bridges by this site…we saw our first community of homeless people here. It is near the canal and also on the periphery of the city. Near-by was the site of the first highway, dubbed the Old National Pike!
Harry sprung for lunch at Patrick’s!
He had the famous Chicken pot pie.
It was at least famous today, because our server
said it had been ordered the most.

We came home and took another run at the Lake Trail Loop with Onyx!

The last thing I saw on the trail tonight was this woolly worm. In the south we predict winters by them. The longer the woolly worms black bands…the longer, colder, snowier and more severe the winter will be. Let’s hope this guy is only predicting Maryland’s winter!

We head home tomorrow bright and early! Thanks for traveling with us as we garnered 7 more state stickers. We captured many fun experiences and logged them into our memory scrapbook!
