Vagabond Tales- Can’t Pump Their Own Gas in New Jersey
September 19, 2021. Cedar Creek Campground
Harry freaked the gas attendant out by jumping out of the truck to fill up his own gas. We learned you cannot do that yourself in New Jersey, but you can add your own sticker. We are camping at Cedar Creek Campground but just a short drive over the causeway we visited Long Beach Island. Beautiful homes all look fairly new. Maybe some rebuilding from a recent hurricane. Also, we were captivated by the fishing fleet vessels. Barnegat Lighthouse. Manned from 1834-until 1940. You probably knew this but we learned it for the first time or at least we think it’s the first time…each lighthouse has its own signal flash pattern. This particular lighthouse still uses the sequence it used back in 1834.In honor of the Lighthouse Keepers. We saw lots of fishermen but no catches. Thinking we might look for some seafood of our own, we began our quest for a restaurant!Yummy fish tacos…complete with fresh pea shoots. I had never had them before but they made for a tasty addition to our tacos.

You can’t pump your own gas in NJ? I might just move there then. And I sure wish I looked as wonderful in gray hair as you do!! Having lived in Maine for quite a long time, we did know about the lighthouse thing but it is always so wonderful to think about. Have a great time!! M.E.
Thank you Mary Ellen…I have had white hair since I was in my early 40’s. I can remember one of my students asking me why my hair was so white…I smiled and said because of little boys who asked me over and over again about my white hair. 😊
Chris and I laughed about New Jersey gas pumps…that happened to us 15 years ago…we were told it’s their law…crazy they still have that law.
Great pics and looks like tasty food. Yum!
