Vagabond Tales- Rough Travel Day… When a Five Hour Drive Turns into Nine Hours on the Road

Little did we know when we left this morning we would head right into a snow front. Perhaps, we should have paid more attention to the multiple sundogs we saw yesterday.

We were driving I-70 through the mountains when Siri said she was rerouting us and it was only a matter of minutes when then we saw flashing signs put out by the highway patrol that said we would be rerouted.

We went from this…
To this!

Bumper to bumper over the detour with hundreds of vehicles of all kinds through the mountains!

People were on the ski slopes!
Ice on the lake,
Coming down the traffic was backed up, preparing to go through the mess! It was about this time I unclenched my fingers!
At last we landed at Elk Meadow Lodge and RV resort! This is a view from the front of our camper! I think that snow is beautiful from a distance.

We have no other campers in our row. So we are alone… except Onyx would tell you we are NOT alone!

There are several of these holes around the camper. Who lives there?
I’m no animal tracker. But Onyx and I were sure wondering if this wasn’t an elk hoof print.

  1. I think I’m going to stay away from you guys for awhile. Things seem to go haywire in an instant!! But it is gorgeous!

    1. Just the joy of traveling out west in the spring. The year Ryan graduated from high school, we took a canyon bike and tent trip in mid June! It snowed at Bryce Canyon and we had to pack up and go to a motel.
