Vagabond Tales- The Great Basin- Where the Desert Meets the Mountains!

They had snow 2 days ago so some of the higher elevation roads were closed.
Absolom Lehman’s log home
You can see his famous orchard from here.
The trees were blooming! If you go in the summer, when they are ripe…
you can pick the fruit! Absolum Lehman found the caves here and it is worth looking up his history on Wikipedia. He traveled to Ohio then out west, then on to Australia and then back to Nevada. Set up stakes in Baker where we are camping.
Our morning hike!
Pinion Pine had just recently dropped its cones. A heavenly aroma!
The trail started getting snowy so we turned around and headed back down. Altitude- 7200 feet.
We drove back, picked up Onyx, and started looking for the Lexington Arch.
The road was rather rugged!
On this drive, Harry spotted 15 or so antelope racing across the plains.
It took much longer to get to the actual trail after the drive and hike up a rock bed. It was four o’clock when we hit the trail head. We decided to content ourselves with looking at pictures of Lexington’s Arch on the internet.

We did get our exercise in today. Knowing we needed a few eggs for dinner tonight we stopped at the only store in town…hours- 2:00- 8:00.

Saw this poor guy when headed home. Thought he was good for a laugh!

This is the store and the expensive half dozen eggs we bought. The chicken has been walking all over the campground. If I followed her, I might have been able to save us $3.50.
We will be adding only one more new stare to our map this trip!

    1. We were given the large map from our son,Chris and his wife as a gift. We decided we would put a state sticker on it, only if we have camped in the state. Driving through doesn’t count.

  1. I tried to leave a comment yesterday and messed up! So glad you two were ok. We are praying for safety the rest of the trip. What adventures! Would never know about these places if not for you. Thank you! Love you!

    1. It has definitely been an adventure! Several times …more than I wanted! No one can accuse me of not letting Harry walk a bit on the wild side! Thank you for following!❤️
