Vagabond Tales- Kick Back in Durango

Our initial plan was to take a half day tour on the Ute Reservation with a member of the tribe but when we found out we would be following him in our truck and stopping along the way we decided other plans were in order. With my poor eyesight, I am not able to spell Harry driving on these long runs. Yesterday, we drove all over Mesa Verde and tomorrow we head for Monument Valley. Another good driving day. When pulling a camper you cannot depend on GPS times to be accurate. So we decided to take a run into Durango! It was an absolutely beautiful day again…no coat day for me…Harry wore a windbreaker.

Lots of fun shopping and eateries!
Stopped for coffee here and Harry decided to order a Colorado Crab Slider. I know, we should have gone to the beach!
Are you missing a hubcap! It may be here!
And we picnicked at the ConocoPhillips truck! Cute place
Harry had his first Vegan ice cream cone….Lots of stuff like that here! The shopping was very interesting!

Just a little story from our shopping trip today…I was looking for a particular item for a gift and thought maybe I might find it at the Toh-Atin Gallery. I enjoy going into galleries when we travel but usually camping doesn’t lend itself to that very often. An older woman waited on me and as we were chatting she asked where we were from. When I said Tennessee she said we just missed Hazel. Did I know her? And she wanted me to know that, Hazel would be heading back to Tennessee this week. I said, I’m afraid I don’t know Hazel. She said sure you do… Hazel Daniels. When my face still registered nothing she said, Charlie Daniels wife. Evidently they have a second home near Durango and the art gallery owners knew them well! They even went snowmobiling together years ago. I hate that we just missed meeting her!

Back to our campground for a walk with Onyx
and see how the crock pot is doing!
I put this together before we left this morning. …the first time for Spiced Crock Pot Beef Roast…We will see if it is a make again. We use these crock Pot bags for easy clean up while on the road! Do you use them?
The finished roast. I thought it was an interesting
vegetable mix but we eat them all, just usually not together.
Next time I will add more garlic!
