Vagabond Tales-Sunny with a Chance of Cloud Bread

We had a gorgeous day hiking with Onyx and biking the Nature Coast State Bike Trail. We started off taking Onyx for a walk…The rules state we can only walk her in the campground. (Not much fun in that.) so we walked outside of the campground and down a road that parallels the camp. It made for a bit longer hike which pleased her.

Picture 1 left…flooding on the road beside the campground. #2- Onyx decided to wade in the flooded area…highly unusual for her as she doesn’t like to get wet…( and NO…we did not let her drink it. #3, bottom left. A place where it was pouring over the road. #4 right, beginning of the neighboring road…Now just imagine if you were the owners of one of these mailboxes… we didn’t pass any homes on our hike down the road to the water covered area.
Absolutely great ride today. Did you ever sing the song “Suwannee”? Well we road bikes over it today. I did not have any idea that the banks of the Suwannee were swampy. Pictures to follow.
Where we began.
Harry sometimes plays hard to get,
The Suwannee.

Way, down upon the Suwannee River

Far, far away

That’s where my heart is yearning ever.

Home where the the old folks stay.🎶

Stephen FOSTER WROTE THIS SONG IN 1851…it has been the official song of Florida since 1935. Even way back then he commented on the “old folks” in Florida!

Here I am, taking the next swamp picture.
Swamp banks of the Suwannee.

Towards the end of the ride the clouds started to roll in. And we stopped at a small shop to look at their garden sculptures and antiques.

God sure makes some AWESOME! things for us to enjoy!
I loved this display!

When you don’t have hamburger buns…you make “Cloud Bread”. Is it a good substitute? Not really, but it looks similar.

Cloud Bread
Probably NOT on the make again list even though they looked very hamburger bun-ish.
