Vagabond Tales- Arkansas Rocks

March 24-We have made it this far. Two hard drive days. Tomorrow we will let Harry rest up a bit and we will drive two more hard days . With God’s provision, we will be home Friday night late. We have been so thankful to have our own camper, complete with kitchen, food, and a bathroom! The rest stops have all been barricaded as we have driven by. Every town we drive through looks like a ghost town…including Oklahoma City. Traffic has been very light…mainly truckers.

This campground is packed…no empty sites. We even are camping in 1 site tonight and picking up and moving to another just to give Harry his day of rest before we start out again on Thursday. Kids are racing around on bikes and other modes of transportation fun. Doesn’t feel like this area is taking social distancing as seriously, as in other states but you can be assured we are not doing more than smiling at others when we pass.

We hiked with Onyx tonight…the rocks along the trail had some interesting striation that I thought might interest you. We certainly know we are getting closer to home. We are in a wooded area similar to ours but I will say…we have no rocks with striping like these.

Striped pattern in rocks are usually caused by layers of sediment that have accumulated over time. However, the most and common case is joints filled with quartz or calcite. These can give you clean straight white lines running across the surface of an outcrop or rock.

If you need us for anything, please let us know. Tell Harry to rest up, he has 2 hard days ahead! Be safe!

    Love you guys 😍💕

    1. Walked a mile to find some internet and it isn’t strong enough to load a blog page tonight! We have rested today and walked the Promenade at the Hot Springs. Wasn’t open but we could walk and look and that was great! Heading out tomorrow am. This second campsite is a gift! Has it’s own sewer.

  3. Beautiful rocks! Praying for safe travels. Hate you have to cut your trip short. Love you!
