Vagabond Tales- Cutting 10 Days Off the Trip

I’m sure all of you have had those days when you wait for a repairman who says they will show up at a certain time and appear 4 hours late or not at all. We waited for a call from my eye surgeon today and finally did get a call around 2:30. I was thankful because both the nurse and Doctor were very pro active and very compassionate. I have an appointment to see the doctor on April first so he can see what he is in for and I will have surgery on the seventh. It feels good to have a plan, even if circumstances change things.

Harry has been working hard to streamline a bit of our trip with some help from campgrounds who are canceling and returning money to us. It will still be slow going as Harry is our only driver and after a long day of driving he needs to rest a couple days. We have canceled a visit with our good friend Judy which makes me sad but with the state of the world right now and the state of my eye…we need to be home.

We went out this afternoon for a few hours to Pecos …a National Historical Park in New Mexico.

Notice the winter coats- Got down to 30 degrees last night and got up to 54 late afternoon, today. Right this minute we are experiencing a snow shower.
So thankful for a heated, dry camper.!
Alfred Kidder is considered the originator of the systematic study of archeological strata in North American archeology. His excavations here at Pecos gave historians a wealth of information about the people and culture who once lived here.
Franciscan friars came to colonize the land and built these churches.

Tomorrow I will show you some pictures of the very interesting place we are camping while in Santa Fe.

    1. That is definitely a prayer, that the Coronavirus could be eradicated! Love you, Judy. Thank you for the prayers for my eye! Sure will need it. Say a prayer for my doctor, too, if you would, as this guy in New Mexico says I am complicated. Can’t wait to see you! In the meantime…we can always talk on the phone!❤️

  2. So glad you have an appointment for your eye. What a gorgeous place. The buildings are phenomenal! It was 77 here yesterday!

  3. Thinking about you, Karen, as you start the trek home. Will b praying for successful eye surgery. I’ve loved watching your travels. ❤️ Amy

  4. I’m thankful that you have an appointment with your doctor and he is going to be proactive. I am so sorry you’re having to cut your trip short, but I pray for safe travels for you all. Also praying that Harry can rest enough on his rest days so he won’t be wiped out by the time you all get home. I’m praying for your eye. I love you all so much

    1. Thank you, Diane! We are headed home in the am. We have found campsites that are still open and will take us. Hopefully they will stay that way. All National parks around here are closing right and left, so it is social distancing in the camper.
