I got a wild hair that I wanted to visit Noah Purifoy’s Outdoor Desert Museum of Assemblage Sculpture. Harry wasn’t sure but said…Why not? So off we went… not every husband would be so willing. Kind of off the beaten path… We were speechless.

It was a beautiful day but VERY WINDY and cold when we got there. I had not worn enough clothing so Harry dug in the back of the truck for a blanket and my hat… I certainly resemble a scarecrow/witch in my get-up…but I was warm!
Assemblage Art seems to me a bit like our southern neighbors who just collect things and leave them out in their yard. It was entertaining, to say the least.

Noah was born in Snow Hill, Alabama…His first sculpture was out of charred debris from the Watts Rebellion. It would have been fun to meet him and have him share what he was thinking when he designed each piece. He has more than a few acres of his work on display here. Unfortunately, due to nature of things, not all things have weathered well.

We love you, too! Thanks for following us and leaving a comment. Helps us feel not so alone.
Looks like my kind of place! Dan
Dan, we have been searching out things where we won’t have too many interactions with people. This was the place. I am going to search the web to see if I can hear any talks I might be able to hear from Purifoy. He was was an educated man and highly regarded in his field. I think it might be interesting. Karen
