Vagabond Tales-Trekking Chisos Mountains

***Sorry for the delay in posting. We had a big wind storm last night and no WiFi available.

We had a beautiful day to begin our exploration of Big Bend. Unfortunately, no doggies are allowed on the trails so Onyx took a restful day in the camper. One of the road signs will show why she wasn’t allowed.. Packed a lunch, and headed off for the Lost Mine Trail.

Our last raspberry jam jar, compliments of Harry’s brother, Brian.

This scenery is absolutely beautiful! The pictures just don’t do it justice! Maybe that is partly due to my mad photography skills but seriously, I just couldn’t capture the vastness of it!

Picture on the top left is Strawberry Pitaya…a mounded cactus
Bottom left…taken with my new Xenvo lens I received for Christmas. Evergreen sumac
Right…not sure on this one…I believe it is the century plant
Can you see the roadrunner in her natural habitat?
She did not want us close to her nest.

And the moment you have all been waiting for… the winner of our contest. Of course by now you know the hints I threw out…grows in trees, a parasite and Harry and I were kissing under it…Mistletoe. I was totally shocked at who won. I think I am going to take this winner to the horse races! 😁

Congratulations, Dan Johnson! Your package is in the mail and we would love you to enter future contests but unfortunately you will be unable to win another one this trip.
