Vagabond Tales- Celebrate Our Nation’s History

***Last Drawing Alert***. Found further down in our blog.

Today, Harry and I headed out to Springfield, Illinois with the express purpose of going to Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum. I have some terrific pictures of it but will hold back showing too many of them, as I think you all should plan a trip to see and experience it! So very well done and impactful …the use of holograms was masterful!

Had to get a picture with the big guys! They were huge!

The wax figures were very believable! Only 5 of these are wax!😄
Lincoln-Douglas Debates were also known as the Great Debates of 1858.

Kentucky had Lincoln first but Illinois had him the longest. I think he would have approved of this well loved snack.

If you have not won either of the other 2 drawings from this trip…you are eligible for this final one. Here is your question…

***What is Illinois’ official state snack? ***

I have chosen this question because second and third graders proposed this as a state snack and it was designated official in 2003. You have until 12 midnight on Friday the 27th of September. Drawing for the winner will be sometime Saturday.

Get on your mark, get set, go!

  1. Chris and I loved the holograms at the Presidential library there in Springfield, Illinois.

My vote is Popcorn being the state snack Illinois.

  2. Love the photos! I so admire Pres. Lincoln! I will have to add that to my list of places to go!

My vote for Illinois’ snack food is popcorn.

  3. Lincoln’s museum is still one of my favs! Such crazy use of technology. So much corn in that area – messed with my sinuses the whole time! But popped it’s a tasty treat. Popcorn it is.
