At the last possible moment before we left Fort Dodge…Harry asked the question…How far is Field of Dreams from here? Only a couple hours from our original plan soooo, why not? Off we went in search of the dream!

Dressed as one of the ghost players, Craig led us on a tour of the home used in the movie and shared many unknown facts about the original owners of the properties and some directing secrets. I thought one of the cool things he did was have the movie playing with the scenes taking place in those exact rooms (no sound) while he spoke… so very effective.

Then I saw this rare sighting 👀
We had so much fun! Great afternoon…little did we know what we had in store for us later. Our gas tank light had come on… next step…stopped to get gas at the “Quik N Handi”… well we were at the Handi for over 2 hours. We filled up with gasoline but unfortunately the car wouldn’t start for us. Well, Taz, his true name, fixed us up with a tow to the local Ford company where we stayed last night and dry camped. Not our favorite campground! Lots of traffic and train noise and a garbage truck that rolled through the parking lot at 3:30. Vehicle troubles can happen to any of us anywhere! We were thankful to young, Taz! He was very knowledgeable and kind. As we sit today in the sales lot waiting for a part to fix a blown starter and wires leading to it, we are so thankful if it had to happen, it wasn’t at one of the out of the way, forlorn gas stations we sometimes stop. God was watching out for us. Right now it looks like we may be fixed by the end of the work day. We will see…don’t want to get our hopes up but it will be interesting to see where we stay the night because our next campsite is over 4 hours away. May have to change things up.

If you build it he will come! That’s awesome! Hope the truck gets fixed!
They are working on it but we are still waiting on a part! We have a comfy place to wait though! We thought of you when we were there. You would have enjoyed it!
Kids and I love the video…Poppy just needed his baseball mitt.
Love you guys. Hope the repairs are quick.
Still chilling out in Iowa!
Karen, you are having some wonderful adventures for sure! But when you are with the one up it love, that makes everything alright!
You’ve got that right, Debbie! We are on the road again but have yet to find a place to stay. Will check in soon! Definitely won’t make our planned space!
So sorry that you all had truck trouble, but thankful that you were NOT in some remote, out-of-the-way place. God definitely is looking out for you!
Wouldn’t be very far without Him!
Ken thought this one was cool——the Field of Dreams, not the car troubles!
We hopefully have put the car troubles behind us! Stopped at a Harvest Host for tonight so we are here for free and quiet in the country!
Ken would have loved it! Such cool little antic-dotes.
