Vagabond Tales- Goodbye Manatee Springs- Hello Tallahassee

Our last hike around the springs was hauntingly beautiful and unnerving at the same time. I love how the sky and trees above are reflected in the water below, a blending of earth and sky…difficult to know where one stops and the other begins. This was another boardwalk not very long but we saw three of these that Harry is pointing at in the next picture.

Yes, water snakes. Yikes! People are actually swimming in the water not too far away. We saw three of these in the short walk so I know the waters are loaded with them.

Afternoon comes and a bicycle ride is in order. We took on a portion of the old Chiefland Rails to Trails bike trail. Parking at the quaint chamber of commerce parking lot and began our ten mile trek. It was longer…in the shape of a T but we just took on one of the sections. It was a beautiful trail and the temperature was just ideal. Below is Harry’s video that he took while riding. Me, I need both hands on the handlebars.

Dianthus or what I call Pinks grow wild along this trail and along the highways nearby.

So beautiful!

March 25, Say good bye to The Bates Motel ( One of the campers, not too far from us) and Manatee Springs. On to a beautiful campsite At Coe Landing, right outside of Tallahassee and then for dinner with some old friends in their lovely home.

Kelly and Debbie treated us to a really delicious meal. We felt so spoiled after camping for weeks. I remember, not so fancy, meals with our guys seated at second grade tables with their knees to their chins in our SouthSide Elementary classrooms, many years ago. But the conversations were equally enjoyable! Sweet friends.❤️ We will be adding Georgia to our map on the back of our camper next!

  1. Great pics again.
You guys clean up well from camping days. Looking forward in seeing you back in JC soon.
As I joked when you left in mid February to bring back some warmer weather, I didn’t think we’d have to wait til the end of March before we actually got some. SOOO bring back some warmer weather for us – or be prepared to pull out winter clothes. 🙂 love you guys
