Vagabond Tales- More Manatee Springs

I will try to post our favorite video from the first night here. We have found out how rare it is to see so many manatee in the springs since the last two days and evenings we have gone to the springs in hopes of experiencing again for ourselves the magic of the first day. We have had sightings but none like our first. ….Last night there wasn’t even one there.

Just a few more pictures.

In this next video, Harry captured them swimming towards in inlet to the Suwannee River.

Pictures to follow of our Kayak trip where we put in up river and floated back down to the springs. Only saw one Manatee while we were in the boat.

At first glance you only see the turtles but look on top the log to the right of them …alligator sighting.

And now for the rest of the story. Remember the last posting where I questioned the cave diving with no lights in Catfish Hotel? Yesterday as we were walking we saw this at the entrance.

We were able to speak to two divers who had just finished a cave dive. They were excited, as they had gone a little under 2 miles in one of the cave rivers. If you are cave certified you are allowed to use head lamps and they also carry lights in front of them. If you aren’t you may use no lights…This is in an effort to keep more people safe…not trying something for which they might not be ready. They also said the water under the covering of vegetation, that I thought was so ugly, was a bright turquoise and there were many fish swimming around. If you want, you can go to YouTube and look up Manatee Springs Cave Diving and these guys have some videos you can watch. They wanted me to imbed their video but that is over my pay grade.
