Quote from the guide…”Don’t worry…If the insects are bad, they are sure to get worse.”

March 10- Headed out to the key of Boca Chita. Check out the guide holding the map on our boat trip. We have seen several people wearing these face coverings. She had an olive complexion and said with her job she could never get away from the sun. I am just slathering the sun block. And wearing my hat.

Mr. Honeywell built this 65 foot lighthouse to welcome his party-going friends as they came to shore. Unfortunately, he did not consult the Coast Guard as to its placement. Totally built it on the wrong side of the island. He was forbidden to ever put a light in it because it would have actually lured the ships into the reefs rather than warn the sailors away.

The building above is the barn Mr. Honeywell kept Rosy. If you can believe it… Rosy was an elephant on which his guests would ride. Crazy! To get her over there would have been something to see!
The following two pictures were taken from the top of the lighthouse.

Stopped by Robert Is Here for Key Lime Milkshakes and to by some produce at his stand.
The Disney World of Fruit stands. Always packed with people!

Thanks for a really good set of pictures and especially the stories. The different colors of blue in the water are amazing.
I would have liked to see the elephant crossing the water, too.
We have finally had a beautiful day to work in the yard. And even better, Wednesday and Thursday should be similar. I have blood root and lung wort just starting to bloom. Love this time of year.

That is one thing I hated about being gone for the early spring blooms. Such a sweeet time. Love you!
This is Spencer
It looks beautiful
There was a great trail on the island you would have enjoyed, Spencer. Only problem was the mosquitoes. If you ran real fast on the trail you came upon a beautiful beach where you could snorkel. We weren’t brave enough.
Looks like great weather! I would have loved the fruit stand. Glad you guys are doing great. Love you. Ryan
Yes, Robert grows most of his own fruit and veggies he sold. We got some honeybells. 🍊
Those pictures really are amazing. Funny story about the Lighthouse on the wrong side. Sounds like something I would have done.
Interesting name “Robert is Here”…but I bet those Key Lime drinks were yummy!
Robert’s dad started the fruit stand when Robert was really young. When he put the sign up, Robert Is Here, People would stop to say hello to his little son. Now he is running the show.
