Vagabond Tales- Running in Circles

February 29, 2024 LEAP DAY- Frank Jackson State Park, Opp, Alabama

Boy did we have the wind last night! It was loud and shook our camper. It didn’t help that this tree was standing not far from our camper.

We were so thankful it was still standing this morning! Site 17 campers beware until the Trail Masters get this removed.

Last Hike in Alabama This Trip

It was near this Gazebo, in a large field, that we put Finn on his Flexible Terrain leash. Tried my hand at the Alabama State flag with my outlining!
Although Finn gets all the same exercise we get each day…he doesn’t always get to just run. If we find fenced in places we take advantage of it but we felt like he just needed to run today. Immediately upon have the special leash hooked on…he took off running. And running- he did this about 5 minutes and this was before our hike!
Couldn’t resist another azalea picture!
Forest Floor treasures.
Would love help identifying what the white milky substance is on the surface of the turtle pond from earlier blog pages. Today, it was all over the place. Is some kind of spawning going on? Dan Johnson if you are following…could you help us? You are our ask a biologist phone a friend.
Two things that made us say, “WHAT.?”

Off to Georgia tomorrow.
