February 19, 2024 Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, Santa Rosa, Florida.
I bet you were thinking I was talking about Harry. If you did, I’m sorry, I was talking about Mr. Finn McCool. When he hits the deep sand and it packs between his pads…he gets the zoomies! Pictured below.
He doesn’t like sand for another reason…this sand holds a secret weapon…sand-burrs.

I mentioned these dune lakes located in the park. Costal dune lakes are very rare and are only found in Madagascar, Australia, New Zealand, Oregon and here in TopsailHill Preserve/ Walton County..
Each lake varies on the amount of salt content. There are 15 of these lakes in Walton County, Florida. When these coastal lakes get full they make a outfall, locally known as a blowout and the water goes into the gulf.

this was a great hike!

along the lower trunks of these trees.
This ended up being an over 12,000 step day. So thankful after all the windy, rainy cold weather!

So glad the weather is looking better. Great pics. Great walking. Have a great time!!!!
Thank you, Mary Ellen! 🩷
The zoomies are so cute!!
Yes, if you are ready for it!😁
hope the weather is getting better down there!
I hope the weather is getting better down there!
It was gorgeous today! A beach day…but too cold for us to go in. I will say, there were children in shoulder deep.
