Vagabond Tales- Where’s Waldo

January 30, 2024 Croft State Park, Spartanburg , SC

Although the snow had melted before we left…we feel sure there will be more to come. So we packed up the camper and have headed south!

We only camped once last year so it was a rude awakening this time packing…Trips are always exciting but one forgets those labor intensive few days before!

I have been experimenting with sour dough bread over the last few months and needed to make a batch before we left. So I started on Saturday thinking I would bake on Monday but due to the cold weather my starter didn’t start bubbling in the normal time. The long and short of it is…this morning before we left…I was preparing loaves to rise. If it was good enough for the pioneers in their Conestoga wagons, it would be good enough for us in our F150 Ford truck.

This bin rode with a lid in the back seat with Finn. They will be ready to bake tonight at 7:30 if they raise! We will see how the camper oven will bake it. We may be looking for some campers to take it off of our hands tomorrow.
Where’s Waldo? I guess I am missing a hat. We will hang out here two days. If you know of any fun things to do in Spartanburg, let us know.
Found out the oven bakes a bit hotter than our oven at home so we have some toasty bottoms. But we proved it can be done on the road! Day 1 down of 36 days.

  1. You guys are TOO MUCH! Have a great time!
That homemade sourdough bread looks awesome. I did that for awhile. I think that’s when we officially hit obesity! It makes the best cinnamon rolls and pizza crust. My mouth is watering just typing this!!!!
