Vagabond Tales – Find the Missing Chickens

You only thought there was a chicken shortage in the nation. Actually, we found them all here in Key West. Everywhere we looked, walked, drove…chickens everywhere. Having been down here four times before in past years, neither of us remember the chickens.
Garbo’s Grill…A fun place for lunch. No chicken on the menu. Harry had a fish burrito and I chose a shrimp/ mango taco. Pretty delicious!They say these hens and roosters are descendent of Cuban and Caribbean chickens. They brought them over to the states to use for food and cockfighting. It became illegal in 1986 to participate in gaming of this nature. And the story goes…they simply let all the birds free and ever since, they have been roaming around the streets begging for food and posing for pictures.We enjoyed exploring the city and boardwalk!s!Not a chicken!
We set off to Key West with only a few things on our agenda today. Look around and reacquaint ourselves with the town, get lunch, and find Harry a piece of Key Lime Pie.
Well, check …we got lunch, and check on getting our bearings,and a semi- check on the pie. Harry got a piece of pie but it wasn’t quite what he was looking for…So that will be on tomorrows’s agenda. Finding Key Lime Pie that measures up!
The home of the pie that was just not quite what Harry was looking for.Back at the camper, we set up our lawn chairs, where I read and Harry planned. Finn spent his time trying to figure out why in the world his people filled this container with cold water and threw his ball in it. Was he to wade? Bob for toys? Nope, nothing doing, he chose to while away his time looking for lizards.
Side note…we just thought he might want to cool off in the water and the ball in the water was to entice him. So much for that idea!
Something is up with this program! I lost the whole blog post last night and rewrote it this am and this one would only partially load! Crazy! Hope I figure it out…or they figure it out or I won’t be able to blog this trip!
Why was there a ball in his container?? I guess I missed it. Too bad about Harry’s pie. I’m sure you’ll find it. Seems like there are chickens and roosters everywhere. Cayman and South Caicos were the worst for me. Too loud too early. Have a great time!!! Where to next?
