If you read yesterdays post, you saw these absolutely awesome red buses. Today, I saw a gorgeous specimen of the tree they tried to pattern the color of the bus from…The Mountain Ash. I guess it’s close.

Upon rising, it was very obvious the smoke was settling in thicker than yesterday so we decided to have an errand, chore day. I got a much needed pedicure while Harry grocery shopped. The laundry is done and put away, we did some banking, and visited the post office. Boring but necessary! While I was having a pedicure the young lady shared a few things we had to do while here. One was …we had to have a huckleberry milkshake at the Huckleberry Patch. So when in Columbia Falls you do what a Columbia Falls resident tells you what you must do.

We had never tasted huckleberry before…it was VERY sweet! I think Harry liked it much better than I did because he brought home a piece of pie, too!
To me, it tastes a bit like blueberry! This wasn’t the first time we saw or heard of huckleberries this week though. See below.
I can’t believe I left this picture out from yesterday. We saw four of these guys foraging for huckleberries when on the red bus tour. This fellow was probably no more than 5 feet from my side of the bus.

Contest #2 Winner finally received his prize…Brian Dorr is sporting his North Cascades National Park T-Shirt.
