Wednesday March 3, 2021…drizzly in the morning and didn’t warm up …well, not much…55 -59 degrees. Should we bike? …Neither of us wanted to be a “party pooper”, so we went. How this happened? I don’t know but when I sang 🎶 the Party Pooper song to Harry , he said he had never heard it. Wow! He missed out in his childhood!😄. We did a couple of hours riding on the Palatka- to Lake Butler State Bike Trail. Harry rode his bike with buns of steel…I started and finished with soggy buns…Evidently my bike covering through the rain the past day didn’t hold up as well as Harry’s. If he was a practical joker it would have been a good one to pull on me. I was cautious not to show my back to anyone the rest of the day for fear they would think I was some poor old woman who’s Depends had failed her.🤣

Maybe you remember our first night here, I mentioned our disappointment in Big Johnson Lake, here in the park. It seemed to be more of a marsh than an actual lake. We have done a little researching and what we have found out is a sad story for this area. Between yearly rainfall numbers decreasing over the last seven years and more people moving to Florida, thus putting more demand on the the underground aquifer…they have lost many small and rather large lakes here. Water is becoming harder and harder to find and keep. The whole area has been affected economically, as you may imagine. The picture below is of a lake near town.

I am hoping that MAYBE I will be able to ride my bike some this year. You 2 inspire me!!😀❤
The trails here are almost level, Diane…not much incline. You would love it! Not much coasting though and that, as I remember is your specialty!😍
Poppy didn’t know the Party Pooper Song? Crazy – Chris sung that just the other day, which made me laugh, since he sang it a lot with the kids many years ago! It’s one you don’t forget!
Did you pick elderberries for a pie? YUM.
Glad you got a bike ride in.
Just elderberry blossoms…no berries yet! 😍
