For the last three years Harry and I have enjoyed a week of camping with our friends, Dave and Ruth Ann at their favorite place…Grindstone, a US Forest Service Campground on Mount Rogers in the Virginia Highlands….(Harry worked over a decade with David at East Tennessee Sprinkler Co.) This year we were there August 24-31…I am going to post a compilation of photos from all of our trips relaxing with them.

Whispering…Hmm…every time we have been there we would call it tumbling water…not so soft a whisper. So pretty and the walk never fails to show us the beauty of God’s creation!

Do you hide rocks?

We spend our time relaxing, playing board games/cards in the evening, Corn Hole in the afternoon and our two families take turn sharing the cooking duties! I can’t even begin to describe the meals that come from our kitchens! Pretty delicious! From Birthdays , anniversary’s and quiet dinners simply sharing tales…we have stored up stories for a lifetime.
The four of us have enjoyed sharing our table with several other campers through the years but I think all of us would agree Bobby Hart, who has worked for the forest management service in various positions through the years, has been our most favorite. He never fails to regale us with tales of bear raids through the camp, women locked in the bathroom showers, and hard to believe tales of long haul truck driving with his side-kick, JoAnne, his wife. And do you know what…I never knew him not to clean his plate!

nothing interrupts our meals!
The lights have helped me see so much better as the sun goes down.
Not more than a 25 minute drive away is Grayson Highlands State Park! If you are camping at Grindstone…it is always a fun side trip to jaunt over to see the wild ponies! We got really lucky on this particular foggy morning!

What great memories and still making them with a great couple, Dave and Ruth Ann. Sweet.
