Vagabond Tales- Headwaters of the Mississippi

Waded in the water that will eventually make its way to the gulf via the Mississippi.

Itasca Lake is the lake that generates the headwaters of the Mississippi.
The sumac and the sun did exceptional things in my camera lens today.

Hill Point with wild rice growing in the shoals in front of Schoolcraft Island. Named for the man who explored the source of the Mississippi in 1832.

We camped for one night at the Forest Edge Winery. We joined a group where we can camp for one night for free at various farms, winery’s and attractions throughout the US for free. Since we had given up our paid night at Arnold’s… this came in handy. Kristin and Steve Twain were great hosts. Just look at this butterfly haven! Kristin saved seeds from Steve’s grandma’s garden and will dry these to sow next year.

These three gals were our neighbors for the night. Onyx was very interested in them! 🐓
