Vagabond Tales-Where the Buffalo Roam

September 12…

We celebrated Harry’s Birthday in the car while traveling down the road and in Buffalo, North Dakota. ( population 192 as of 2017). Wow…I didn’t know what to expect when Harry told me he had found the perfect place for us to stay in ND. He said it was a great campground run by the city of Buffalo. 8 full hook- up sites overlooking the city ball field and costing a whopping 20$ per night. All proceeds go to paying for the upkeep of the field. When we arrived we had our pick of places, so we took number 1. Other than the lonesome sound of a train whistle occasionally, it was a very quiet evening, spent celebrating Harry and talking with family on the phone.

This is the bread basket of America, folks…fields and fields and silos.

Birthday Cake…Mini Almond Flour Chocolate Cake…Pretty yummy!

Thank you for all of the Birthday wishes! Harry was well remembered.

September 13….

Off we went this morning to visit Ben Morgan in his home in Bismarck. Lunch was great and allowed for some much needed catching up, then a personal tour of Ben’s town. We were blessed to meet 2 of his pastors and the office manager, Gayle at Century Baptist Church. His church family has played a huge part in integrating him into the community with love…and good food. They have found Ben’s sweet spot!

Got to see Ben’s grandson Mike at C&H Glass which was a nice surprise! Following that, we went to the state house to do our MN state bird drawing.

This buffalo sculpture was made with rebar rods. Beautiful. Saw another I will share later.

Back to MN tomorrow.
